YAB 2021-2022 Application

We're so glad you're interested in serving on the YVCKC Youth Advisory Board! Please fill out the following application by Sunday, August 22 to be considered for a position on Y.A.B. for the 2021-2022 school year. Final decisions will be announced on or before Friday, September 3. The first meeting will take place on Sunday, September 26.  Email Danielle Small at with any questions.

About YAB

The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a group of youth volunteers who represent all of our YVCKC youth by providing a youth voice in the development of the program. YAB members demonstrate hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment to YVCKC's mission statement.

​To serve our community by using our voice to make an impact and form connections between youth volunteers and community partners. 

Our Vision

To collaborate with nonprofits to spread volunteerism throughout the community. ​

YAB Member Qualifications

  1. Exemplary performance on past YVC projects.
  2. Nomination by YVC staff member and approval of YVC Program Director.​

Term Limits

  1. Member terms last one year.
  2. Member may be relieved of duty by submitting a written request to the YVC Program Director AND fellow Board members.

YAB Member Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly YAB meetings every third Sunday of the month from 3:30-4:30pm at Youth Volunteer Corps Headquarters, located at 1025 Jefferson Street Kansas City, MO, with no more than three unexcused absences. After three absences, a member’s position can only be retained by a Board vote.
  • Attend at least four YVC projects during the course of the program year.
  • Demonstrate an ongoing desire and ability to contribute to the achievement of the objectives set by the Board.
  • Act as an ambassador and advocate for YVC in the community.
  • Participate in YVC fundraisers and special events as needed.
  • Actively recruit new youth to participate in YVC activities on an ongoing basis.
  • Officer elections will be held during one YAB meeting of the year.
  • Individuals nominate themselves for position(s) and are given the opportunity to explain to the Board why they are the best candidate.
  • Voting will be by secret ballot, majority wins.
  • Officer terms last one year with the possibility of re-election for a second term. After two consecutive terms, the member may be returned to office by a two-thirds vote of the Board.
  • Termination of officers may be voluntary by written resignation to YVC Program Director and fellow Board members, or as a result of the non-compliance to YAB responsibilities.
  • Officer vacancies will be filled by special election under these same guidelines.
