YVCKC Staff

YVCKC is fortunate enough to host AmeriCorps members and Interns who serve as Team Leaders and Project Managers to carry out our programming. They are all First Aid/CPR-certified, background-checked adults who are responsible for planning projects, designing service-learning lessons and supervising youth, among countless other things that help YVCKC function smoothly!

Meet Our Team Leaders

Picture
Chelsea Mann has lived all over the United States and is excited to call Kansas City her home… for now.  Chelsea was a youth director in Chicago, built houses for Habitat in Virginia, served with senior volunteers for RSVP in North Dakota, worked for the Boys and Girls Club in Boston, and cleaned the gulf coast in Mississippi after hurricane Katrina.  Chelsea is very passionate about making volunteering a lifestyle choice and she is excited to share her love for intergenerational volunteering.  She is a wicked big Red Sox fan, loves musicals, collects Depression glass, likes walking barefoot in the grass, and wants to spend her life working in non-profits.

Dylan Terry is from the Kansas City area and is excited to be living here again. She recently graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, with a degree in Political Science, a minor in Spanish, and an emphasis in African studies. She spent much of her college career volunteering and is stoked to have a job where she can do it all the time. She likes to travel more than anything; moving abroad is one of her lifelong goals. In the meantime, she can't wait to start volunteering and working with the youth!

Emily Lundberg recently graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Sociology. Her passion for community service began at a young age but became a lifetime commitment after a year traveling the country as a member of AmeriCorps*NCCC and working with organizations such as Campfire USA on Vashon Island, WA, Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans, LA and Biloxi, MS and EcoServants in Ruidoso, NM. Emily is excited to begin another AmeriCorps service year with YVC and to interact with the youth and community of Kansas City!

He is a graduate of Fort Lewis College with a degree in biochemistry and currently a student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City studying sociology and anthropology. Matthew has worked in the areas of social justice, health promotion and disease prevention, HIV education and prevention, and in a homeless youth shelter. Matthew has also worked in (bio)chemical and biomedical research laboratories. He believes that the youth are important in bringing positive social transformations to their community. His goal is to align the resources of the community with ongoing initiatives and visions of youth making critical differences through service.

Gary Jackson is from St. Louis, Missouri; he is a recent college graduate from Webster University. Gary graduated with a degree in Political Science and minors in Speech Communications and Sociology. His passions are social policymaking, education reform and competing in Forensics and Debate. When he is not trying to take over the world, he enjoys performing in shows, watching a lot of television and sleeping a lot! Gary is excited to be a part of the YVCKC staff and welcomes the new challenges ahead!
