                            Why Volunteer?

The mission of YVC is to create and increase volunteer opportunities to enrich youth, address community needs and develop a lifetime commitment to service.

What you get out of it:

The Youth Volunteer Corps of Greater Kansas City is one of more than 45 affiliates of the Youth Volunteer Corps of America. YVCA was founded right here in Kansas City! To learn more about the National Program, click here.

YVCKC offers a wide array of service opportunities. During the school year, we provide regular
weekend-based volunteer projects. We also have weekly after-school projects, as well. During the summer, we hold an 8-week intensive summer day camp called Summer Sensation. In addition to all of these opportunities, we also host regular special events throughout the year, like our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service, Global Youth Service Day, and our All Ideologies Day of Service (AIDOS).
Volunteering gives youth an opportunity to do something better for their community! Our hope is to empower youth to change things and to make a difference. In addition to being a positive influence in the world, while serving with the Youth Volunteer Corps of Greater Kansas City, youth will have the chance to:

                            • meet new people
                            • be challenged with new experiences
                            • fulfill service hour requirements for your school, for scholarships, or for court-ordered hours
                            • know that they are doing something meaningful
                            • gain new practical skills
                            • have fun!
