                            Summer Projects

“It is a good way from kids to develop a community spirit and keep busy during the summer. While his other friends complained of boredom, my son had a full summer.”

                            Summer Sensation

YVCKC Summer Sensation is an 8-week intensive program for youth ages 11 to 18 to serve their communities. Each project lasts four days: Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Youth serve in teams at projects all over the community, and each project includes service-learning lessons, icebreaker games and team-builders.

Summer Sensation 2012 will begin on June 4th and continue eight weeks until July 26. Youth are welcome to sign up for just one project or more, but the minimum is one full week.

We will announce the schedule for Summer Sensation 2012 on this page on April 2, and we will begin accepting sign-ups for Youth Volunteers April 18. This program is very popular, and availability will fill up quickly. Please stay tuned for more information on signing up.

“This is a great program for the youth. It teaches them responsibility, social awareness and how to interact with other that different with them.”

                            —Mailan, parent of a volunteer
