Need Volunteers?
Thank you for your interest in hosting our Youth Volunteers as they serve your organization! Agencies have the opportunity to work with us in several different ways:
Saturday Projects Most Saturdays throughout the year, YVCKC sponsors multiple community service projects for 11-18 year olds. A typical Saturday project is from 9 a.m.—noon, or from 10 a.m.—1 p.m., but we can adjust those hours depending on the project. For projects lasting more than three hours, we ask that a snack and beverage be provided for our Youth Volunteers and Team Leaders. To apply for a project, your organization must complete and submit a Project Request Form. This can be done either by filling out the form on our Request a Project page, or by downloading the document from our Forms and Applications page. Project Request Forms must be submitted at least six weeks prior to your requested project date. If you have questions, concerns or need help with planning your project, you can always contact the Team Leader office to discuss your ideas. We prefer to meet with all agencies before the project is scheduled if we have not worked with you in the last year. Spring Break Projects
Spring Break offers Youth Volunteers the opportunity to serve for an entire week! The 2012 Spring Break week will be selected soon. Projects can be week-long or day-long. Contact us if you'd like to host a project that week. Summer Projects – Summer Sensation
The Summer Sensation program is an eight-week intensive volunteering program that runs from June to August. Youth Volunteers work week-long periods at various community-based organizations in the Greater Kansas City area. Projects run from 9am - 3pm, Monday through Thursday. TO REQUEST A SUMMER PROJECT, VISIT OUR SUMMER PROJECTS FOR AGENCIES PAGE. Our Summer Sensation program is extremely popular; it is important that your agency submit the necessary application as soon as possible to assure that YVCKC can secure a week of service for your organization. After School Projects
During the school year, we have ongoing community service opportunities during after school hours. These projects are designed for Youth Volunteers who want to make a more meaningful, long-term connection with one the selected agency. If you would like to be considered for an after school project site, please contact us. |
Please note that we do not accept projects that are purely clerical, fundraising, or trivial in nature. We strive to incorporate service-learning wherever possible, so if you have ideas on what educational aspects your project affords, please include those with your project submission.
