During the school year, we have on-going community service opportunities on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. . These projects are designed for the Youth Volunteer who wants to make a more meaningful, long-term connection with one of these worthy agencies. While you are not required to sign up for more than one week at a time, it’s a great chance to find out what your service really means.
LAKEVIEW VILLAGE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY~ Tuesday Afternoons

At this nonprofit senior living facility, Youth Volunteers will be visiting with seniors, playing games like UNO, assisting seniors on their way to dinner and helping out around the facility as needed. It’s a great opportunity for Youth Volunteers to learn from people of a different generation.

PET CONNECTION ~ Wednesday Afternoons

At this no-kill, nonprofit animal shelter, Youth Volunteers will be socializing cats and dogs, cleaning pet condos, feeding, watering, walking and brushing the animals.
TIME: Wednesdays from 4p.m. to 6p.m.
LOCATION: 5918 Broadmoor, Mission, KS (On the Southwest corner of Broadmoor and Johnson Drive, behind Toto's Coffee)
Kansas City Community Kitchen~ 2nd and 4th Wednesdays

Helping to prepare food for 300-500 kitchen guests. This is a great opportunity to assist Kansas City's homeless population. Students will help prepare food for the following afternoon lunch meal.
TIME: 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 4p.m. to 6p.m.

OPERATION BREAKTHROUGH ~ Thursday Afternoons

Youth Volunteers will be tutoring and reading to children at Kansas City's inner-city day-care program. We will be working with mostly elementary-age students at the center's after-school enrichment program. Please contact us if you are interested in participating.
